The Bump and Baby Expo is a one-stop shop for everything before, during and after pregnancy.
Avocado events hosted a very special event within York racecourses on Sunday 7th April, i was extremely excited to be attending the event as a guest blogger and got the opportunity to meet some fantastic exhibitors and guests at this event. The event promised competitions, giveaways, experts, a wellbeing zone, speaker area and shopping, and boy did they deliver.
The theme is in the title for this event but this event catered for children as a whole and I have found some wonderful new brands, suppliers and groups which are relevant to me and my children ( I have 4 children aged 3, 8, 10 and 13). I found it really inspiring how many of the exhibitors were mums themselves who have made a business from developing a product or service which they felt there was a need for.
I attended the event child free which did feel a little wrong considering the theme but as much as I love my children I would never of been able to spend as much time meeting and talking with everyone if they had been with me.
I was pleasantly surprised with the amount and variety of exhibitors on offer and I met some genuinely inspirational and dedicated women (and men).
I absolutely loved how the whole event focused on supporting local businesses and organisations from the Yorkshire area. We really dohave a lot of cleaver and talented mums and dads within our community.
The Mum Boss
Celeb parent blogger, Vicky Psarius aka Honest Mum attended the event giving a really inspirational interview alongside signing her best-selling book, “MUMBOSS The Honest Mum’s Guide to Surviving and Thriving at Work and at Home”. I think Vicky’s talk inspired the entire audience and I personally have not been able to put down her book.
I had a lovely chat with the kind volunteers of Action Medical Research , which is an incredible charity set up to help fund vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled children and also the chosen charity of the expo. I have no doubt that the Expo will have raised a substantial amount of money for this wonderfull charity.
One such Mum is the brain child behind Cover me, Harriet has created, designed and made herself her covers for mums and babies with the slogan: One cover, One size, Many uses. Cover me is the UK’s First multi-functional baby cover with an internal storage pocket and retail at £22.50.
House of Clouds create stunning wall lights all made with no plastic and use sustainable wood, each piece coloured in gentle pastel colours with strong silouetes.
Health and Wellbeing
Continuing on I found many incredible exhibiters promoting health and first aid training and support, The Childrens E Hospital provides on-line paediatric services in order to improve access to specialist medical care and along side this offer the Children’s e-Hospital HOTPOD® kit which allows parents to measure key physical data from a child who might be unwell. What I absolutely loved about this company is how as a very anxious mum I panic over every pimple, rash and fever, If I had access to this service I feel I would be supported 24 hours a day without feeling like I have over reacted or wasted precious NHS time.Mini First Aid provide scheduled classes and private classes for small groups. Mini First Aid classes are for parents, grandparents and carers of babies and young children. They run 2 hour classes which cover Choking, CPR, Bleeding, bumps, breaks and burns, Febrile convulsions and Meningitis awareness. I feel there are a lot of people who will agree with me that vital lifesaving skills learned in these classes should be compulsory to all parents? The classes are just £20 per person.
I absolutely fell in love with Bumpkins Yorks bump boxes, “Whether you’re treating yourself, looking for a gift for your partner or loved one the Bumpkins Bump Boxes will not disappoint, chock full of amazing products (if we do say so ourselves) we’ve taken the hard work out of finding some really special products AND they come beautifully packaged AND to your door! The Bumpkins Bump Boxes are broadly Trimester aligned and there’s four, yes we know Trimester is strictly speaking three but hey, why have three gorgeous boxes of loveliness when you can have four??!!”
Thank you so much again to Avocado events for having me along as a blogger to this event, I cannot wait for next years Bump & Baby Expo and any future Avocado events.
I was kindly Gifted my tickets for this event along with the Goody bag.
